A freelance journalist for the past 30 years, Carol Porter has worked as a magazine editor for institutional publications. Her features and essays have appeared in Cosmopolitan, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Chicago Tribune. A native of St. Louis and graduate of University of Missouri School of Journalism, Porter is the mother/stepmother of three grown children. She lives in St. Louis County with her husband, Howard Porter, and Oliver, their Yorkshire terrier.

Enthusiasm for choral singing is what first brought Carol to The Sheldon Concert Hall, an acquaintance that led her in turn to the investigation of its architect and the authorship of Meeting Louis at the Fair.
