Carol has spoken to audiences at libraries, clubs, churches and service organizations. Topics for 2004 included: "Louis Spiering -- The Story of a St. Louis Architect and the Book He Inspired" Why was Spiering one of St. Louis' most intriguing yet little-known architects? An author's account of being overtaken by her topic, and the journey that followed. "World's Fair Tidbits Too Good to Trash--Outtakes from an Author's Notebook" What to do with the weird and wonderful bits that don't make it into the book? Hear the oddities that found their way into this presentation, an entertaining look back at popular culture in the St. Louis of a century ago. "Blue Walls at the White City--the Secessionist Leanings of Louis Clemens Spiering, World's Fair Architect." This one's for hard-core architecture fanciers, with surprising glimpses at little-discussed buildings of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. Hint: they weren't all ornate ivory palaces! Carol is available to help develop a topic for your event. For details, call 314-909-0362 or contact csp@csporter.com. |
